With the Ainu medical system as an example, this book probes questions central to research in symbolic, medical and linguistic anthropology, structuralism, and the anthropology of women.

Author writes the book for someone who has an existing business merging into QB17 - which is fine. However, as someone with a completely new business I was trying to do the "smart thing" and start from the beginning to set up QB for my business. Pieces I needed were much later in the book (Chapter 7) which led to a large amount of rearranging of my chart/list of accounts. I have an accounting degree and have spent most of the last 2-3 years working in accounting/AP so the theories behind everything were not new to me. My advice, either skip around to things you need as you need them, or read the entire thing before trying to set up a new business.

Poor information

I bought this book obviously to learn how to use QuickBooks and I unfortunately learned pretty much nothing. In my opinion, if you are fairly well-versed in accounting and could if need be set up a chart of accounts on a piece of paper and track all your purchases and sales by hand (in other words, are very good at accounting), then you will probably be able to read this book and learn the program. That is because all you would be looking to learn is where are the buttons are in the program. However, to be honest, I think most people who could do perfect accounting by hand probably don't need a book to help them learn the program as they can figure it our by themselves or with a few quick (and free) online tutorials. Now to be fair the book does not claim to teach you accounting first in order to understand the program. However I think an average person who understands the concepts of accounting for a small business (keeping track of expenses and income, accounts receivable and payable etc,) but probably has not put this knowledge to use, or maybe have only been doing very basic accounting in excel or just on paper, would need a lot more instruction than this book offers. It really seems to be just a book written to help you find where stuff is, which after a little while playing with it, is not all that hard (not as intuitive as it could be, but doable.) For example, the chart of accounts is really one of the most important things to get set up in the program and if you do not do it correctly, all your numbers will be messed up and will be very hard to fix. However, it simply lists things you might want in your chart of accounts with no other information. In summary, if you are not 100% positive of your accounting skills to begin with, get a different book. I ended up paying for an online video tutorial and it was much much better.

describes major VLSI ideas

The book starts with the invention of the transistor at Bell Labs, and goes quickly into explaining the major topics of modern VLSI design. To a large extent, the book tries to speak about general principles of design. As opposed to tying the knowledge to a given fab process or a current linewidth.

The emphasis is on CMOS design. Which is fair, since this is the most common digital technology in use. Though earlier pMOS and nMOS efforts also get a mention, along with BiCMOS, where the latter is perhaps most useful in high speed applications.

At the systems level, you get a good discussion of such items as using a clock to synchronise actions across a chip. Alternate circuit ideas are also covered. Though space constraints mean that the book can't really go into these in the detail that they warrant.

Remember not to buy this book

It is certainly not worth its price. I was discouraged when I realized I couldn't return mine because I unfortunately filled out a small survey towards the beginning of the book in pen. The book is 270 pages of common sense. The author dwells on things that have no relation to developing a better memory. An entire chapter is devoted to making it clear that when we forget something people don't like us. Another on how eating nutritious foods and exercising is good for memory. Another chapter simply reaffirms us that we should trust our memory, as if we needed a boost of self confidence. More common sense taking a totally neutral stance, a little stress is good but not too much! a little coffee is okay but not too much! etc. I'm sure you can find something better, good luck!

A very thorough book on memory techniques

I've examined many memory-improvement books out there in the market. This book by far is the best-organized , and also the most complete. You can waste your money buying more fancy books or tapes on the subject, or you can save money by buying this book that summarizes all the known techniques in a very useful way. I strongly disagree with the previous reviewer on his assessment of this book.

The ideas given in Super Memory are impractical. It introduces many memory aids for your mind. Yet, if you really think about it, instead of remembering these memory aids to remember things, then why don't you just write it down? His book does not teach you how to memorize a list of 100 very random characters like some other books. This book is worth skimming -- in your spare time. I rate it 2 stars.

Most people do not use it even when it has got a perfect application just because its intricacies are not properly understood.

How do you machine a job with a non-monotonic variation in surface profile, i.e., with radial or axial undercuts, if Type II G71 / G72 cycles are not available? May use a CAM software if you have access to it. That is perfectly okay. But, how do you machine a workpiece obtained by casting or forging with only slightly oversized dimensions, say, about 2 mm? One cannot use G70 because removing 2-3 mm material in one pass may not be permissible. G71 or G72 would be too inefficient because the tool would cut in air most of the time. One can, of course, use a CAM software where the initial shape may be appropriately defined, but that also requires additional modeling time as well as software expertise. G73, on the other hand, can very quickly machine it to the final size in just a few passes (depending on the chosen depth of cut in one pass and the amount of over-size). G73 is designed mainly for such applications only. Read on and find out yourself. Manual part programming would never be the same again!

Apart from this book, and a book on the basic CNC programming, he has published several e-books (Kindle Edition) in the series "CNC Programming Skills."�
The first book in this series is "CNC Programming Skills: Program Entry and Editing on Fanuc Machines," which gives complete, yet concise and step-by-step information on editing procedures using the MDI panel.

The second book in this series is "CNC Programming Skills: Understanding G73 on a Fanuc Lathe." Its publication was inspired by the fact that most people, just because of ignorance, do not use such a powerful canned cycle G73 even when it has got a perfect application.

The third book in this series is "CNC Programming Skills: Live Tool Drilling Cycles on a Fanuc Lathe." These days higher-end lathes come equipped with live-tooling arrangement, allowing drilling, boring and tapping anywhere on the face of the workpiece, as well as in the radial direction at any angular position, using built-in canned cycles. These are explained with suitable examples in quite detail.

The fourth book in this series is "CNC Programming Skills: Understanding Offsets on Fanuc Machines." Downloads don't work on Kindle fire

Downloads won't play on Kindle fire! Why Amazon would sell a book where the download s won't play on their machines is beyond me! No wonder it was so cheap ($2.99).
Bad part is I try to download on another device and Hay House tells me I already have downloaded! Now I really can't sleep!

I got the book on my Kindle Fire and then followed the directions on how to download the audio portion. I used my PC to download the audio portion into my iTunes and then transferred it over to my iPod. Works great.
